Do I need a hub for this globe?

Yes. This is a ZigBee 3.0 globe, so it needs a ZigBee hub or gateway to connect — it will not join your Wi-Fi on its own. It pairs with our PureNode ZigBee hubs, and with Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA setups. If you would rather not run a hub, choose one of our Wi-Fi globes instead.

Which fitting do I need, E27 or B22?

B22 is the bayonet fitting — two pins, push and twist. E27 is the screw fitting. Both are common in Australian homes, so check the globe you are replacing. The globe itself is identical either way.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Home?

Yes, once it is paired to your hub. You link the hub to Alexa or Google Home in the app, then control the globe by voice. It is not compatible with Apple HomeKit.

Can I use it in a light fitting with a wall dimmer?

No. Do not use this globe on a circuit with a physical wall dimmer — it dims from the app instead, and a wall dimmer can cause flicker or damage. Set the switch to full on and dim from your phone.

How bright is it really?

Up to 1900 lumens at 18W in white mode, which is bright enough to be the main light in a bedroom or small living room. Most smart globes stop around 800 lumens. Colour modes are dimmer, as they are on every RGB globe.

Do I need an electrician?

No. It screws or twists into your existing light fitting exactly like an ordinary globe. Turn the power off at the switch first, as you would with any globe change.
