Warranty Policy

PureNode — Operated by Electro Oz Pty Ltd
ABN 62 667 840 217
Last updated: 17 June 2026

1. Our Warranty Commitment

At PureNode we stand behind every product we sell. We are committed to ensuring your smart home automation products perform as described and deliver long-term reliability in your home. This Warranty Policy outlines your rights and our obligations when a product fails to meet expected standards.

This policy operates alongside and does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

2. Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

Regardless of any warranty period stated in this policy, all products sold by PureNode carry statutory consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. These guarantees include that products will:

  • Be of acceptable quality — safe, durable, free from defects and acceptable in appearance and finish
  • Be fit for purpose — suitable for the purpose for which they are commonly supplied and any specific purpose you made known to us
  • Match their description — correspond with any description provided on our website or in any other communication
  • Come with full title and undisturbed possession — you have the right to own and use the product without interference

These statutory guarantees apply for a reasonable period of time based on the nature, quality and price of the product. For premium smart home automation products this is expected to be a reasonable number of years given the product type and price paid — often extending beyond any stated warranty period.

3. Product Warranty Periods

Warranty periods for products sold through purenode.com.au vary by product type and brand as follows:

3.1 PureNode Branded Products

Warranty periods for PureNode branded products vary by product category and will be clearly stated on the individual product page and in the documentation included with your purchase.

3.2 Third-Party and Partner Brands

For products manufactured by third-party brands sold through PureNode (including but not limited to Lutron, Ecobee, Sonos and other premium smart home brands), the manufacturer's warranty applies. Warranty terms, periods and conditions for these products are set by the respective manufacturer and will be detailed in the product documentation.

3.3 General Warranty Guidelines by Product Category

Product Category Indicative Warranty Period
Automation hubs and controllers 12 months
Smart lighting (switches, dimmers, keypads) 12 months
Smart lighting (globes and strips) 12 months
Climate control devices 12 months
Security cameras and doorbells 12 months
Smart locks 12 months

Sensors and accessories 12 months

Actual warranty periods may vary. Always refer to the specific product page and included documentation for the exact warranty term applicable to your product.

4. What Our Warranty Covers

Subject to the exclusions in Section 5, our warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing defects — faults in materials or workmanship present at the time of purchase
  • Component failures — failure of internal components under normal use conditions
  • Functional failures — the product ceasing to perform its primary function under normal operating conditions
  • Premature deterioration — deterioration beyond what would reasonably be expected given the product's age and price

5. What Our Warranty Does Not Cover

Our warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

5.1 Misuse and Accidental Damage

  • Physical damage including drops, impacts, crushing or immersion in liquid
  • Damage caused by misuse, abuse or negligent handling
  • Damage caused by operating the product outside its stated specifications
  • Accidental damage of any kind

5.2 Unauthorised Modification or Repair

  • Unauthorised disassembly, modification or repair of the product
  • Tampering with or removal of serial numbers or warranty seals
  • Installation or use of third-party components not approved by the manufacturer

5.3 Environmental and Electrical Damage

  • Damage caused by power surges, voltage fluctuations or incorrect power supply
  • Damage caused by lightning strikes or electrical storms
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity or environmental conditions beyond the product's rated specifications
  • Corrosion or damage caused by inappropriate installation environments

5.4 Normal Wear and Tear

  • Consumable parts such as filters or replaceable batteries

5.5 Incompatibility

  • Issues arising from use with incompatible third-party systems, platforms or devices where incompatibility was clearly stated or reasonably foreseeable
  • Software or firmware issues caused by third-party applications

5.6 Improper Installation

  • Damage or failure resulting from installation that does not comply with the manufacturer's installation instructions
  • Damage caused by installation by an unqualified person where a licensed electrician or qualified installer was required

6. How to Make a Warranty Claim

All warranty claims are managed through PureNode. Please do not contact the manufacturer directly — we will manage the entire assessment and resolution process on your behalf.

Step 1 — Contact PureNode

Email our warranty team at contact@purenode.com.au within the applicable warranty period. Please include:

  • Your full name and contact details
  • Your PureNode order number
  • Date of purchase
  • Product name and model number
  • Serial number (found on the product or its packaging)
  • A detailed description of the fault or issue
  • Clear photographs or video demonstrating the problem
  • A description of the conditions under which the fault occurred

Step 2 — Warranty Assessment

Our team will review your claim and respond within 3 business days. We may request additional information or photographs to assist our assessment. In some cases we may require the product to be returned to us for physical inspection before a resolution can be determined.

Step 3 — Return the Product

If we determine that the product needs to be returned for assessment or replacement, we will provide you with:

  • A Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number
  • Return shipping instructions

You are responsible for the cost of shipping the product back to us. We strongly recommend using a tracked and insured shipping service as we cannot accept responsibility for items lost or damaged during return transit.

Step 4 — Resolution

Once we have received and assessed the returned product, we will notify you of our decision within 5 business days. If your warranty claim is approved, we will at our discretion either:

  • Repair the product and return it to you, or
  • Replace the product with the same model or an equivalent product

We will cover the cost of shipping the repaired or replacement product back to you at no additional charge.

If a direct repair or replacement is not possible (for example if the product has been discontinued), we will offer a store credit or refund to the value of the original purchase price.

7. Warranty Claim Outcomes

7.1 Approved Claims

Where a warranty claim is approved we will action the repair or replacement as quickly as possible. Typical resolution timeframes are:

  • Replacement from stock: 3–7 business days after claim approval
  • Repair: 10–21 business days depending on parts availability
  • Supplier warranty resolution: Up to 30 business days for third-party brand products requiring manufacturer involvement

7.2 Declined Claims

If your warranty claim is declined because the fault falls outside the scope of this warranty policy, we will:

  • Provide you with a clear written explanation of why the claim was declined
  • Return your product to you at your cost
  • Advise you of any alternative repair or resolution options available

7.3 Out of Warranty Products

If your product is outside its warranty period but you believe it has failed prematurely, you may still have rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Please contact us at contact@purenode.com.au and we will assess your situation on its merits.

8. Warranty Transfer

Warranties on products purchased from PureNode are provided to the original purchaser only and are non-transferable. Warranty coverage does not transfer if the product is sold or gifted to another person.

9. Warranty and the Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where there is any inconsistency between this policy and your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law, your statutory rights will prevail.
